Natural Remedies For Hair Loss – Part 1

Good day everyone, I hope you are all well-rested from the mid-week holiday and would like to take the opportunity to wish all our Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya Haji.

 

For today’s topic, I want to explore potential home remedies for hair loss. This is an issue that many of us can relate to, but there are some methods you can try out from the comfort of your own home in order to stop it. Some of them may seem a bit unconventional, but it can’t hurt to try right?

 

Improve your diet
Protein is very important to ensure that your hair remains healthy. It strengthens your hair and encourages hair growth, and many cases of hair loss occur because of a lack of protein. You should consume a variety of nuts and seeds, fish, eggs, meat and other types of dairy and beans – these are all important sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which help to improve the health of your scalp and reduces inflammation.

In fact, it is recommended that you should consume a 2-3 ounce portion of meat, or a combination of 4-5 servings of beans and dairy for your daily protein intake.

 

Coconut oil
This is commonly used in India, and with good reason! In addition to encouraging hair growth, coconut oil actually helps to condition your hair when it is applied. The essential fats, proteins and other minerals in it reduces the breakage of hair, which in turn should result in less hair fall.

It should be massaged into your hair, from the root to the tip and leave it in for one hour. Alternatively, you can massage coconut milk into an area of your hair where there is balding or thinning. Leave it in overnight and wash it off the morning after.

 

Egg white
This is easily considered unconventional! But it is a rich source of several ingredients that help to get your hair fall under control such as sulphur, iodine, selenium, zinc and protein. In fact, it actually promotes hair growth!

Add a teaspoon of olive oil and add it to the white of a single egg, before mixing it in thoroughly until it resembles a paste. Take this and apply it to your entire scalp and your hair. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes before washing it out with cold water and a mild shampoo.
