What Is Botox?
Good day everyone, I hope the weekend has continued to treat you and your families well and that you are well-prepared to face the upcoming week ahead. Today, I want to talk about another cosmetic procedure that is very popular around the world – Botox.
Now, there are several negative connotations when Botox is mentioned; probably because of the many celebrities that use it too much and end up looking like scary mannequins! However, Botox can be a highly effective and aesthetically pleasing treatment method for reducing signs of aging, so long as it is done in moderation.

How It Works
Botulinum Toxin, or Botox as it is more commonly known, is generally used for facial contouring or reshaping. It helps to induce relaxation in facial muscles, as well as thinning the masseter (chewing muscles) in the jaw. This occurs because the nerve impulses of the muscles are blocked by the Botox, and because the muscles are relaxed, your fine lines and wrinkles will diminish!
Your cheekbones will appear full and your face will appear to have a lifting effect. This helps to reduce potential signs of aging and your appearance will be more youthful. In addition, you will also look refreshed and rejuvenated.
Before and after Botox treatment
As a non-surgical procedure, Botox is administered to your face by a few injections to selected areas. There’s no need to worry about pain or discomfort as numbing cream is applied before the treatment, and the finest needles are used for the injections. This also keeps any bruises, redness or bleeding to a minimum and side effects arising as a result of treatment are rare.
Results
The improvements should become apparent within 3-5 days of the treatment session, with your skin smoother than ever before! Botox only affects the muscles in areas that are targeted, so the rest of your facial muscles will continue functioning normally. So don’t worry about losing your million dollar smile; nothing will happen to it!
Just remember that any treatments should be done in moderation, or else you might end up looking like Joan Rivers! Our doctors will be sure to consult and discuss with you as to how often and which facial areas are best for treatment, so don’t worry about the negative image that Botox sometimes gets. You are in good hands!
