When pores in the skin become blocked by a buildup of sebum – a natural liquid produced by the body to eliminate dead skin cells – acne breakouts occur. Both men and women can be affected, and this skin disorder is fairly common, with most of adults and teens experiencing acne at least once in their life.

Triggered by a shift in hormones and stress, breakouts tend to be more common during puberty as more testosterone is produced in men, and women begin their menstrual cycle.

WHAT IS DERMAROLLER TREATMENT?

Dermaroller is a skin device that creates micro pathways in the skin for products to absorb and penetrate. It comes in several range of needle size which from 0.2 mm to 2.5 mm in diameter. The needle size applied based on the skin condition. This technique creates tiny pricks around the skin by gives enough space in between so the healing response takes over to stimulate growth of new skin.

Helping the skin to produce more natural collagen, the Dermaroller treatment, otherwise known as ‘skin needling’, stimulates the growth of new skin cells. This results in fresh layers of surface skin, and helps you recover from acne breakouts faster.

HOW IT WORKS?

Dermaroller is done by piercing the skin’s surface with sterile micro-needles on a roller, microscopic channels are created to encourage the body to naturally produce elastin and collagen as part of the natural healing process. Following treatment, targeted areas of skin will be rejuvenated, becoming thicker and healthier in appearance. As perforations to the skin are microscopic, you can expect your skin to heal promptly.

Complementing the procedure, a serum will be applied to the skin, and topical anesthetic will be used, ensuring that you experience no discomfort. New rollers are used for each treatment eliminating risk of infection. Furthermore, titanium alloy needles are used, meaning you won’t have to worry about any allergic reaction.

IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Risk of infection is very low for this treatment, as microscopic channels created on the skin will close rapidly. Some minor skin inflammation may occur, but this will subside within 24 hours of the treatment.

POST PROCEDURE CARE

For anti-aging effects, a minimum of 3 treatments over the course of 6 weeks are recommended. For acne scarring, up to 5 treatments may be necessary depending on your doctor’s recommendation.

Depending on your age, diet, lifestyle and overall physical condition, results may vary. During the first 24 hour post treatment, avoid using of makeup and touching your skin face unnecessarily. Do avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least 1 week to achieve optimum results.
